I have recently had a number of inquiries regarding how some of our upcoming
races will be scored. The answer is simple and straightforward. As we are
hosting regional's in our own backyard (Mammoth), All of those races will be
scored exactly as our "regular" races are scored, with one exception. There
will be no open class for regional's.

In regards to scoring in our race series with the Juniors, those races will
be scored exactly the same as our "regular" races. Please remember this
season by board vote, a change was made for open seeding in speed events
(one run races). That change is that if you wish to be in the open seed, you
must declare this to the race organizer one day in advance of the race.

Some people have voiced concern that our Downhill races held in conjunction
with the Junior racers are scored. Three important points;

1) Downhill racing is a part of ski racing, and by extension, a part
of Masters Ski Racing. In fact, as a bit of trivia, DH was the first form of
organized ski competition.

2) We have designed our scoring format to enable racers to exclude
races they either did not attend, or performed poorly in. DH's are just part
of the overall scheme of things in this regard.

3) Even though we have a quota for competitors for the DH's, that
quota has never been filled. If it came to pass that we were having to
exclude racers due to the quota, then our board would have to re-examine DH
scoring.

Thanks

Mark
